Where Does the Bible Say Baptism Takes Away Our Sins?

When the curious crowd in Jerusalem wanted to know what they should do after Peter’s sermon, he told them:

“Do penance [show you’re sorry for your sins], and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission [forgiveness] of sins…” Acts 2:38b-d PDRC, brackets & highlighting added in scriptural quotes)

And when Paul many years later explains to an angry crowd in Jerusalem how he converted, he tells them what the man who baptized him said to him:

“And now why do you tarry [wait]? Rise up, and be baptized, and wash away your sins…” (Acts 22:16a-c PDRC)

Other verses say something similar. These are just two of the most obvious.
