Where
Does the Bible Say the Members of God’s Church Are One Flesh?
“For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes
and cherishes it, as also Christ does
the church: because we are members
of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” (Ephesians
5:29-30 PDRC, any brackets & highlighting added to scriptural quotes)
The Apostle Paul says this in the Bible after first talking about
husbands & wives:
“Let women be subject [obedient] to their husbands, as to the
Lord [as if their husbands are like the Lord to them]: because the husband
is the head of the wife, as Christ
is the head of the church. He is the
saviour of his body.”
(Ephesians 5:22-23 PDRC)
And so we see how the Church is not just Christ’s Body, but
also that Christ is the “saviour of
his body” --- not of the whole world, but only His Body, the Church. For while Jesus offers
Salvation to the entire world, a man can only actually save his soul by becoming a member
(a part!) of Jesus’ Church Body… which is why the Bible
says, too:
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the
church… cleansing it by the
laver of water [baptism] in the word of life [teachings]… For…
we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. ‘For this cause [reason] shall a man
leave his father and mother, and shall cleave
[join] to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.’”
(Ephesians 5:25a-b, 26b-c, 29a, 30-31 PDRC, quoting
from Genesis 2:24)
