Isn’t It Silly to Think Water Can Wash Away Sins & Join You to God’s Body?

Not at all. Jesus told His leading followers, the apostles:

“Going therefore, teach all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe [obey] all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20a PDRC, brackets & highlighting added in scriptural quotes)

And isn’t baptism part of the first thing of “all things whatsoever” that He commands them to do in the quote above? Yet Jesus also said:

“Go into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believes not shall be condemned.” (Mark 16:15b-16 PDRC)

The Bible is crystal clear. To be baptized is to begin to obey Jesus, starting you on the road to salvation.
