What
Makes Jesus’ Body His ‘Wife’?
“Let women be subject [obedient] to their husbands, as to
the Lord: because the husband is the head of the wife, as [just like] Christ is the head of the
church… Therefore as the church is subject to [under the authority of] Christ,
so also let the wives be to [under the
authority of] their husbands in all things. Husbands,
love your wives [be willing to die
for her, care for her, etc.], as Christ also loved the church, and
delivered himself up for it [was willing
to die for her, the Church]… So also ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that
loveth [loves] his wife, loveth himself. For no man ever
hated his own flesh; but nourisheth [nourishes, i.e., takes care of] and cherisheth [cherishes
--- cares for with the deepest of concern], as also Christ doth [does]
the church [Christ has the same deepest of concerns
for, and takes care of, His Wife, the Catholic Church]: because we are members of his body,
of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause [reason] a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave [cling to, make her a part of him] to his wife, and THEY SHALL BE TWO IN ONE FLESH. This is
a GREAT SACRAMENT [MYSTERY]; but I speak in [speak about] CHRIST and in [speak about]
the CHURCH.” (Ephesians
5:22-23b, 24-25, 28-32 DRC)
Whew, great big quote! But important to know the truth --- it saves our priceless souls.
You see, Our Creator made us ‘binary’… male &
female… for a reason. To know what our eternity is supposed to be, if we
do what Our Maker tells us. Christ & Church are ONE FLESH just like husband & wife --- the Roman
Catholic Church Body of Jesus Christ really is His Immortal Wife.
God the Son taking on our humanness, our flesh, is what
makes this possible. Your head connects
to your body, right? Yes, the same thing happens being part of
Christ’s Church, His Body. (Colossians 1:24 DRC)
Christ is the Head of His Church Body, the
Church Herself is His Body. Husband & wife, ONE
FLESH. That we can’t see this is our blindness… yet
truth is truth, the Catholic Church is
Jesus’ Wife, with Mary not only the Mother of God, but Our Mother, too.
